幸运的孩子

妈妈老说,我怎么就这么幸运呢,身边有着这么多深深爱着我的人。
我有个宠我、原谅我乱说话的家人;
有毫无保留对我们好的阿姨和舅舅们;
有个看透你所有的棱角和脆弱,宁愿自己受伤也不妥协把你放走的男孩;

Bangkok 5D4N Family Trip: Day 5

Flight schedule was on 6pm so we practically had half more day in Bangkok weeeeeeee.

I kinda miss home btw, first long distance vacation without having bro aside, felt a lil lonely sometimes.

Mom wanted to visit the Four-Faced-Buddha (四面佛)
Aunt said it was nearby so we had our simple breakfast in the room and started walking.

Didn't expect it to be in front of Isetan Shopping Mall.
Met a man who looked so alike with my KMK's Director (Pengarah)!
At first glimpse I was like, OMG TUAN PENGARAH RUPA-RUPANYA MEMANG ORANG SIAM.

But that guy was a police officer, so he claimed.
He said he would be taking a flight to Penang for a meeting,
or Kedah to get back to his duty as a pengarah lol.

He was so kind and passionate in giving us directions and instructions to
reach the true Four-Faced-Buddha Statue, which was not far ahead.
He took out his pen, showed his licences as a cop (macam yes), then drew us a map.
We didn't go in the end, since Uncle would be taking an earlier flight.

So being lost in a city we hardly understand much wasn't a clever idea.

Bought a Bang-Chang-Kueh at a roadside stall, M'sia's tasted better :B

Welcome to the read-from-Geography-textbook-very-busy-jammed-Bangkok-street.

Went to Big C Mart to buy Pocky, it was very very cheap here if compared with M'sia.
Around RM 1 per packet if not mistaken (I'm lousy in remembering mathematical figures btw)
Bro would be overwhelmed with the Vanilla and Chocolate Hazelnut Pocky!

Bought Xiang Pure Oil (上标油), like traditional medicine oil for mosquito stings or minor cut.
Tasted lotsa dried fruits, my undying loveeeeee.
Bought Thai Duck Instant Noodles, Bro'd love it too.

Left Big C Mart, LOL, IT'S KMK AGAIN.

*p.s: C Mart stands for Changlun Market, which was our most convenient place to buy stuffs back in college times.

Bid Uncle goodbye after that.

Headed back to Platinum again, Aunt still had the urge to shop summore :D

Attracted by this lovely shop that sells hand-made bags, around 200 Baht each (RM20).
Soooooooo cute! Imagine my niece with a bag pack like these!
Or my phone / camera would feel proud lying inside too.

Deep sense of guilt struck for spending too much these days lol,
pretended I saw nothing and walked away :(

Left Platinum without buying anything ah we three.

Checked out from KC's Place.
Had lunch at KC's Place's cafe.

1. Fried Pad Thai - IKR, again.  But the one at Platinum dinner tasted better.  Sweet, still.

2. Tom Yam Gong - Super spicy super spicy, anticipate the next Thailand trip to really find a good Tom Yam Soup.

3. Fried Thai Rice - I thought this was Fried Tom Yam Rice from the menu, who knew it turned out to be normal fried rice with Thai rice.  Best for this lunch anyway.  Thai rice emmmmm and the egg aroma emmm.

Don Mueng Airport again.

Thought we were big spender already, but you would really gasp at other's luggage.
Ours didn't exceed quota, in fact, we have a few KGs left O_O

We were not too bad lah afterall :P

Oh and before we left we saw McDonald's, spotted PORK BURGER.
Cost 180 Baht (RM 18)
Yea pricey I know, prolly it was an airport outlet.
Since you know U NO FIND IT IN M'SIA,
and there were some bahts left in pocket so we went ahead for it.

Juicy pork patty, with lettuce and mayonese.
No pork taste.
Big Coke.
Fries.

Oh and there was American Ketchup there, perfect.

So here ends my Bangkok Trip, fat but happy and I RIKE IT :)

All and all that I can say is,
I'm a really lucky girl to have them - my Aunt, my Uncle, and my Mom.

Bangkok 5D4N Family Trip: Day 4

Went to Chinatown on the forth morning.

There's a saying that goes: Chinamen (Chinese) are everywhere one loh.
I gotta clap clap and say it's so true, coz no matter in which country you are,
you can find Chinatown (唐人街)。

Same goes to Indians, there's an Indian street in Thailand too.
Sometimes I had a wrong concept as if I was in M'sia lol.
唐人街 at 茨厂街
Indian street at Jalan Brickfields.

Bangkok is famous for its seafood (mentioned don't know how many times already haha).
You can get cheap fish maws a.k.a. fish stomach(鱼漂)here.
For Chinese it's a quite high-class cuisine as it's quite pricey,
but look at the fish maws they sell here, in bulk and they come in cheap cheap price!

As you walk on the streets, sometimes you may have a misconception that you're in Hong Kong or China.
Probably it's too much HK drama or what but look at the Chinese signboards in the air!

Mom and Aunt has been to Shan Tou, China (汕头)a few years back,
they said this Chinatown in Bangkok looked exactly like that place.
Especially when you hear lotsa people speaking Teo Chew (潮州).
The friendliness of the language overwhelmed my two women, they enjoyed themselves a lot here.

Mom said the food they sold in this Chinatown are traditional Teo Chew dishes,
now it's Mom's turn to yelp here yelp there like a small kid lol.
"Popo loved this ahhhhhh"
"Your Popo's Popo loved this ahhhhhhh"
etc etc.

*PS: the left bottom are fish maws fyi.

It was lovely to see Chinese words after so many days of Kap Kap language buzzing around :P
Oh one funny thing, guess what is the thing as shown at left bottom?

I told Mom it'd taste good lol, looks fluffy like marshmallows.

AND IT WAS COCKROACH KILLER.
SWEET SWEET FOR COCKROACH.

*runs away*

prolly I'm their species afterall .___.

Bought Smoked Pork at this shop named Lim Jieng Hiang (林真香).
Aunt bought some last time, Smoked Pork and Smoked Duck back for us,
and it was so highly rated that it became a must-go location if you visit Bangkok within our family members.

Mom and Aunt chose two big pieces, and asked the shop keeper to pack it into vacuum-pack so it would be easier to bring it on plane.
Mana tau, language problem striked,
the workers go and chop the big piece into size like above, helped us heat up summore >__<

In the end, Uncle bought some of the small pieces coz he couldn't bring those back to S'pore, tasted'em on the spot.

I CAN GO MAD I SWEAR.

It was not oily at all and with every chew you could taste the mild-smokey taste with a lil moist,
totally chewable and every chew you taste heaven.

Aunt chose another big piece and used hand-leg language to explain what's "vacuum" HAHA.

Tried the famous-dao-appeared-at-Wikipedia-first-on-food-list chicken rice, which they call:

Khaiton Khao Man Gai, Pratunam.

They claimed to be the first Hainanese Chicken Rice Shop in town, so we gave it a try.

After trying, emm, not much with the chicken, no chicken-taste, too over-rated I suppose.
It was tender and juicy, no doubt.
But for chicken-lovers like us, we expected more,
at least you got to taste bat-cham-kai (steam chicken 白斩鸡) with chicken taste one marr.
Gwong Sai Zai(广西仔), the chicken rice chinese restaurant nearby my house serves better chicken rice than this.

However, Thai rice still wins lol.

Ordered a Duck Herbal soup too, tasted ok ok, who still use NO-MSG soup in restaurants anyway.
Mushroom added a lil marks for it, not too bad :D

Went to Platinum
the super super wholesale mall.
It was beyond describable HUGE.

So many floors, so many outlets, so many dresses, unique T-shirts, accessories.
Now I understand why bloggers commented women could practically die here.
Blouses' designs here you can see no repetition, or hardly,
and super cheap is the thing you can keep exclaiming.

Platinum VS Chatuchak Market

Platinum has air-cond, more comfortable;

Platinum has a lot of beautiful "he" as models, if you want to see them, with very geli old uncles kap-ing them, come to Platinum;

Platinum has more choices, but less variety, you can spot no Pets section here;

In Platinum it's better if you don't shop alone, bring along your besties, coz in a shop if you buy two pieces above they can give you wholesale price, which is much cheaper than you buy one;

T-shirts in Platinum have more creative designs, but more expensive.

So in the end I prefer Chatuchak Market, still.
More things to see and to WAAAA about.
Don't really mind the Sun as long as I have things to WAAAAAA.

Prolly I'm really the very-kampung-city-girl like others say la -___-

 1. Noodles from Chinatown - Comes with fried fish skin. Super crispy and no oil-stink.  Mee was doink doink also, very Chinese, not sweet (like, finally -__-)

Dinner at Platinum Food Court:

2. Herbal Duck Feet - Wanted to try at Chinatown but Mom was busy WAAAA-ing with her stuffs so I kept quiet.  Ordered it for dinner.  A lil too salty, otherwise okay, ate it with rice.

3. Fried Pad-Thai - Yea my family has an obsession with Kuey-Teow you see.  This dish finally tasted quite good if it wasn't s-w-e-e-t.  Had wok hei, that plumpy cook manyak power one.

4. Mee in Gravy - From the same stall as Fried Pad-Thai - No surprise, tender pork slice thou!

Aunt ordered 3 desserts later but I was on eating mode
so I care no more about you all
so I forgot to snap
tee-hee :P

Return to hotel like a dead weary fish,
feeling guilty on the money spent on shopping, guess I'm not a born shopaholic afterall,
feeling low-confident on my look and size so I bought mainly T-shirts instead of feminine blouses/dresses,
feeling unbelievable that I'm actually leaving tomorrow?

Bangkok 5D4N Family Trip: Day 3

Woke up quite early to visit this special tourist attraction:

Maeklong Railway Station Market

So how special exactly it is, you may ask,
probably just a market located right BESIDE the railway station

BUT NO

it is ON the railway.

The train that passes by the Maeklong Market 6 times a day is the
Commuter Train No.4382 from Maeklong to Ban Laem
in Samut Songkhram, Thailand.

The market was very packed with stalls selling dried / fresh seafood, vegetables, meat or local delicacies,
like things you usually see in pasar pagi :)

The interesting part is,
you get to participate and blend in with the locals here,
I never really liked visiting too main stream tourist attractions, packed with tourists, tour guides.
I find it interesting to understand the true culture of the people who've been living on this land.

Oh back to the market,
stalls were practically ON the railway, people walking ON the railway,
locals buy fruits ON the railway.

I simply couldn't understand how to shift all the stalls and evacuate the people aside
when the train passes by.

*whispers*

I was secretly panic-ing when I walked along the railway.
Didn't go faraway from Mom :{

Plus, the railway + market was looooooooooooong.
I was consistently finding a place to run if the train came tut-tut LOL -__-

Trains have schedules to follow,
and we were just in time to catch the train that passed by the market.
Everybody was so eggcited!

Uncle went to find a spot for photo-shooting with his baby DSLR,
while I was glued to Mom, standing around 10cm away from the railway,
officer said that distance was OKAY.

Was stuck amidst the tall-tall angmohs, didn't snap too many photos coz I was too short O_O

The very shockingly funny thing was that
the people (locals) were not nervous at all when the train came tut-tut-ing,
Aunties made their payment slowly, the market stall traders kept their things aside slowly,
and I was like,

EHH FASTER LEH, Y U NO GANJIONG ONE!

So worried.

Then the train went tut-tut to the station, everything went back to normal,
everything within a split second (okay, probably 5-10minutes?)
Tourist like me was so jaw-drop amazed, clapped like a kid when the train passed,
locals were so used to the routine, back to business right after.

Well, I'm not sure if you understand what I'm blabbering here,
here's a video clip of this special Maeklong Railway Market from Youtube :D

Damnoen Saduak is a famous floating market in Bangkok, the largest one in the world.
But visiting there is too mainstream.

Plus, Aunt and Uncle had a bad experience there during their last visit,
long and tedious boat ride on dark polluted water river,
not a place worth visiting.
So we set out to find another floating market - which is less commercialized and more local :)

So here we are, Amphawa Floating Market

I gotta say I love my dummie Sony DSC-W520 camera, especially under blue skies :)))

It's super lousy pussy at bad yellow lighting thou .__.

We went to browse along the platform.

This place was exactly what we wanted!

Left bottom captured my eyeball with the big wooden cupboard with a lot of drawers.
Mom said old style Chinese Herbal shops were like that,
now it is a restaurant selling Kuey-Chiap.
Wanted to try and compare Thay Kuey-Chiap and Penang style,
but Aunt and Mom didn't look too interested
so I diam-diam ikut sahaja :{

Mom and Aunt were attracted by this beside river seafood thing, so was I!
Small stools, and grill fish with salt / squid / big head prawns, mad love this!

Uncle was thirsty, had a coffee and ice milk tea, which were freshly brewed on the boats.
Taste ok ok la, but after witnessing the whole "use-river-water-to-wash-cups-and-brew-coffee" activity,
*gulps*
Pretend you see nothing loh, in M'sia uses non-filter pipe water also wad >__<

TA-DA MAD LOVE <3 nbsp="" p="">

Definitely need skills to cook a proper squid dish,
coz you cannot over-cook'em, even for the slightest bit,
or else the texture'll be like chewing gum.

1. Charcoal grilled squid - Not too smoky taste, with Thai chilli sauce, awesome texture, and fresh!

2. Charcoal grilled big head prawn - I have yet to taste such tasty grilled prawns I swear! OMG IF AND ONLY IF I CAN HAVE IT NOW.

3. Fried Pad-Thai - Char Kuey Teow, so-so, will anticipate for the next Fried Pad-Thai.

Wanted to try the Grill fish with salt but the fishes were too big we four couldn't finish :(

Mentioned in my previous post, fresh juice stalls are very competitive in Bangkok,
in 20 steps walk you can spot 2-3 stalls.
In order to stand out among the rest, you gotta have new catchies, like this.

It was not artificial bamboo you know, fresh young bamboos, and you can bring it home!
Had ice coconut drink, brought a bamboo shoot back to hotel, then left it at hotel no bring home -__-

Those who know me well, they'll know I'm a genuine 吃货 (means super tam-chiak, super like to eat)
It's inherited btw, it's in the gene :P

1. Coconut plus beehoon thing - Yea it looked like drug, but it's not.  You can just eat like that, without bread or rice, taste mild sweet.

2.  Miang Kham (Wild Betel Leaf Wraps) - Ate this before, made by Mom's colleague from Kelantan.
Wrapped in the wild betel leaf were dried shrimps / minced coconut / GINGER / lemongrass.
Raw healthy ingredients but too bad, not my fave.  Uncle loves it so much!
Look at the caplock words then you'll understand why .__.

Nahh, just if you're interested, here's a recipe of it :Miang Kham Wild Betel Leaf Wrap Recipe
Randomly came across it when I was searching for the food's name.

3. Pomegranate Seed Dessert (石榴籽甜点) - You can find this in M'sia too, Aunt loves this, but not from this stall, tasted a lil weird, maybe we were just not used to that taste.

Had Thai dessert at a roadside restaurant.
It was very creative of them to use the old sewing machine and transform it into a dining table.
Didn't really like the two above too, maybe they taste too local, and too sweet, very Thai-style.

They sold old Thai CDs in the restaurant,
and they provided magnifying glasses for the elder ones to read, so caring :D

Ahh and I personally love these two shots :D

Headed to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) as the next destination.
Aunt asked me to Google about it before we departed, was fascinated by the ancient design.

50 Bahts as entrance fee, around RM 5.
Didn't go to the Royal Palace as suggested by most of the people who've been to Bangkok before.
Aunt and Uncle didn't like the horrifying crowd there, and the very very expensive entrance fee,
I didn't like crowd either, so we came here.

The decorations were made from ceramic bowls, cups or plates.
Marvelous is the word that I can say.
Was surprised to see Guan Gong (关公)statue there O_O

The steps were awfully steep, Mom and Aunt have backaches so they chose not to climb and take the risk.
So me and Uncle headed for the stairs and caught some Thai air from above.

Still I gotta say, the steps were real steep.
Basically you only have half of your feet on the steps, not recommendable if you're afraid of heights,
you may block people from climbing up or down.

I saw a father carrying his daughter on his back and climbed'em, clapss :O

Went for shopping mall tour later bwaha.
People think of Temples and Shopping when they hear Bangkok,
and I did'em all in a day!

Stopped by at Siam Paragon,
saw Wenyi and Sze's favourite shop at the main entrance.
It took me a minute to realize it's Forever 21.

Realized the other shops here were too high class,
changed another destination after 20 steps.

Within walking distance there were more choices of malls to shop at, so we stopped by here

Absolute Siam

It has very unique designs of resting areas, like the right bottom, they are seats for you to rest.
Very creative crafts for teens to snap photos, a modern designed mall, and fashioney :)

Guess Kingsley would go crazy after these.

Went MBK Centre (Mahboonkrong) after walking a floor at Absolute Siam.

Mad hunger strikes. So we went to Nova Kitchen and have some Thai Cuisine.

1. Gang Keow Wan (Thai Green Curry) - Curry with fresh milk always tastes good, but this tastes so-so coz it tasted mild sweet.

2. Tom Yam Kung - You can order either spicy / medium spicy / very spicy.  We ordered medium spicy, but ended up tasted like super spicy.  Emm, have yet to let me WAAAAA.

3. Bat Bo Liang Cha (八宝凉茶)- Taste like weird weird tea, Mom didn't know how to describe it too.

1. Mango Sticky Rice - The glutinous rice was a lil chewable, preferred it to be stickier a bit :P

2. Som Tam - Famous Thai Salad, very qigek coz it was sour emmm, not the best one so far.

3. Pad Pak Bung Nam Man Hoy (Stir-fried Kangkung)  - Tasted very similar with M'sians' favourite dish 马来风光.  Best dish for the night :)

Chit-chat with Mom, Aunt, Uncle in the restaurant, and after a brisk walk around the mall
we headed to the nearest BTS Sky Train Station.

Couldn't really understand the girl at the Information Center,
so we took quite some time trying and asking around.
It was quite fun, I'd say.

Mr Peter said we could take public transport to reach our hotel,
so we gave it a try, changed a transit, or so.

People here actually follow the safety rules!
They are so civilized tat they stand according to the arrows,
let the people come out from the door, only then the others enter the BTS.

I wonder how many moral classes they need to attend a week in school -___-

Changed to the Airport Express to reach our hotel.

Aunt and Uncle: Achievement Unlocked! :D

Back to hotel and sleep.  Damn tired.

okay i dont know why my third day went that long too :3
